As you know, our dog (my brother's actually) passed away last week and he was very upset. On Saturday, my brother went to the dog shelter to begin his search for a new one. We thought it would be good for him to have a companion to help him stay positive about all of his current health issues. When he got to the shelter, he and this lovely little girl Parker hit it off great! He took her home that day and she's been attached to his hip ever since!! I'm so grateful that he has someone to spend time with who seems to absolutely adore him. It's amazing how much a companion can give you strength. Hopefully she will do her part in helping him to get back to a life of normalcy!
My brother is going in for his third blood transfusion today and I'm really worried about him. Blood transfusions are amazing and can help save lives (so thank you to everyone who donates blood! You've saved my brother's life before and will again today!). We tried an iron infusion last week and it didn't help his iron levels (which are half what they should be) so yesterday we found out he will need an actual blood transfusion. There is always risks associated with blood transfusions because it's hard for the blood banks to make sure EVERYTHING is perfect with the donated blood. Because of that, my dad has volunteered to start donating blood every couple months to keep a supply ready for my brother in case he needs another one. Unfortunately, he can't use it this time because my brother can't wait even an extra day to be treated, but from now on, there will always be blood available for my brother. Thank you, Dad, for giving us your same blood type! Haha. And thank you for volunteering to give Hermano blood whenever he needs it!
Of course Maggie looks so sad because she misses her daddy and my dog is a goof as usual - posing in the background! I'm lucky to have them both with me so I'm not really home alone if Husband is gone. It's nice to feel safe with them by my side and also have a little company. By the end of the night, I ended up with both dogs in bed with me snuggled against me!
Hubs and his dad both gave me some nice compliments on my cooking abilities. I've been working very hard to learn to cook and truly hone in on my cooking skills since I got married last year. I, personally, feel like I've made a lot of progress but it's always wonderful to hear others tell you the same thing. It's encouraging to hear that my husband thinks I'm an excellent cook and the few times I have cooked for his parents has apparently made an impression. So thanks, you guys!
