Today would have been Carrie's 39th birthday. She would be celebrating with her husband and little girls and not wanting to talk about how close she was to 40. Instead, she's celebrating her first birthday in Heaven. I can't believe she passed away 3 months ago yesterday. I don't think any of us have completely processed that she is actually gone. Maybe because she had such a presence among us all. She still lives with us each day even if she isn't actually here in person. I miss her terribly and I know it doesn't even compare to how much others miss her. Today, I pray for her little girls and her husband and my in-laws and my own husband that they can get through this day with the knowledge that she is happy and not suffering any more. She is still with us (and if you see her youngest, you'll see her spitting image) every single day and her love for the world lives on. Love you so much, Carrie!! Happy birthday!

Today Husband turns 30! I cannot believe how time flies! I have been so blessed with his love and support and I hope today really is all about him.
This week I am thankful for my dear friend Maria. It is her birthday today and what better day to celebrate her than today? I am so lucky to have her in my life and to share all of our excited and eventful times together. Thanks for being such a wonderful friend!! I received this book from my sweet sister Cate and I have been reading it in the mornings on the way to work. What a wonderful reminder to give daily thanks for all of my blessings. It is a beautiful written book and I'm lucky to have a sister who wants to share this wisdom with me. Saturday was Max's 2nd birthday and my mother-in-law decided to throw him a birthday party. It was so much fun to spoil him and shre his day with 5 of his dog-cousins. I'm grateful to have a family that can have fun and celebrate little things like my dog's birthday. Dad's birthday was wonderful this past Sunday. I was thankful for an evening of delicious food and board games with my family. More than anything, though, I'm thankful for my dad and all her has blessed me with.
This weekend was my mom's 60th birthday and we threw her a 1920's themed birthday party. It was so much fun seeing everyone dressed up in their 20's gear and listening to music from the era! We had excellent food and the house was decorated amazingly. The best part about the weekend was the fact that we had family come in town to celebrate. 3 of my mom's 5 siblings made it down from Kansas along with 4 of my cousins! We also had a special visit from Caitlin (who is basically my sister). The friends that came for the party were so special to my mom and I know she truly appreciated everyone who made it!
My mom's 60th birthday is this weekend and to celebrate, we are throwing a 1920's themed party!! I'm so excited about all she has planned. We will have "bathtub gin", dance the Charleston, dress like flappers and much more! I've been working with her to send out invitations, make plans, plan my costume, etc. and yesterday, my husband asked what he should wear... oops! Totally forgot about getting him a costume!! haha. My bad. Soooooo.. I decided to look up some men's fashion from that era. There isn't much but I'll make sure to get him a hat. I did, however, find some super-cute women's outfits! I thought I'd share some pics of both (the small amount of) men's and women's fashion. They did dress pretty cute back then but I like today's fashion better ;) This week I am so thankful for my little brother. We celebrated his 22nd birthday on Tuesday night and I think he really enjoyed himself. In honor of him officially being old (hahahaha), I thought I'd pull out an old picture of us from about 17 years ago. Doesn't he look ADORABLE??? What a little blondie!! I'm thankful to have such a wonderful, loving brother and to have such a good relationship with him. Last night, I stayed up wayyyyy too late talking to Caitlin but it was totally worth it! I'm thankful that I get to talk to her so regularly and that I may actually get to see her next month!!! (If you're reading this, Caitlin, you should probably look at your schedule now and make sure you can come!). It's so amazing that we have gotten a chance to really build our relationship and become close! :) Sooo on a totally superficial level, I'm so pumped that it's finally turning into boot season! I can't wait to pull out the boots (and eventually the scarves/hats/other fun fall accessories) and enjoy fall! I've been looking all over for some fun fall boots. How cute are these??? Not sure what I'd wear with them but they are adorable! And I love the grey! Although the game tonight was postponed, and we won't be starting the season for another week, I'm still thankful that Aggie football is starting up! I love the college football season and it's going to be an exciting journey as we start up in our new conference! I really hope that this move is good for us and I'm proud to cheer on my Aggies!! Happy birthday to the bestest little brother in the whole wide world!! Hermano turns 22 today and I cannot believe how time has flown! I still feel like we are both little kids running around and making up fun games while we traveled with our parents. Now we both have our own houses and our own grown up lives. How crazy! I hope Hermano has the best birthday ever :) Love you, kiddo!! This week I'm thankful for my super friends! We had a pool day over the weekend to celebrate my bday and it was so fun to just spend the day with some of my good girl friends. They are so supportive and I'm lucky to have them in my life :) For my birthday, my family took me to this adorable French restaurant called Chez Nous. It's a little hole-in-the-wall place but super fancy. It was absolutely delicious and wonderful to see my familia. I'm so lucky to have them and that they spoil me so much! I'm thankful for everyone who has already donated to my race. I've said before how much I love the Run 10 Feed 10 program that I'm working with to raise funds for local starving children, but I can't get over how great it is. Please check out my fundraising page and go through the links on it. There is a link to the Run10Feed10 project as well as the Feed Project (which is a world-wide foundation to help feed starving children). While you're there, please help me reach my goal of $1,000! Any little bit helps!! Thanks so much! I'm very grateful for the new bicycle tires I got for my birthday! My bike is about 13 years old and definitely isn't as snazzy as the one in the picture here (but I wish it was!) and right now, it is hanging in our garage with flat tires. I haven't ridden a bike in years but I have recently wanted to take it up. I think it's a good way to mix up my workouts and I'd love to teach my dog to run next to me while I ride. He'd love to be able to run a little faster than he does when I'm jogging. Hopefully this weekend I can change out my tires and get a nice little ride in. It shouldn't be that hard, right? It's easy as riding a bike... or it is riding a bike... |
