Gretchen started a new etsy page where you can buy her work. Her new company is called Chatoyan Trends and she takes special requests (like you see here!). You can also take a look at her gallery so see how versatile she is! I can't wait to display my tiles so that everyone can see them! Hope you find something you like as well!!
So I know I have mentioned my friend Gretchen before and I've spoken wonders of her art abilities, but I'd just like to show off (and brag about) my new Sicilian tiles that she made for my kitchen. I called her up and told her that I was decorating my kitchen in a Sicilian theme and sent her pictures of some of the things that inspired my decision to go that route. I told her I wanted tiles to look rustic and Mediterranean while including some lemon accents. Then, I told her to just run with it. I knew she would send me something incredible but when I received my tiles yesterday (they are pictured above), I was sooo pleased! She outdid herself!! These are absolutely beautiful and I'm so happy with them! Plus, they were hand-painted so that makes them even more special :)

My friend Gretchen is an amazingly talented artist. She is so creative and has such a broad range of abilities. An article was published this past week at examiner.com about how she started her Etsy shop and where her inspirations come from. Read the article here. Gretchen tries to recycle things and turn them into art and that makes for some incredibly creative items. You can find her shop at here. No matter what you want, I'm sure Gretchen can create it for you. She does jewelry, pop-up books, paintings, sketches, makes boxes, paints designs on floors and walls (even computer monitors haha!), clothes, and she can make items such as curtains or books. Below is a tiny sampling of some of her work but it doesn't even begin so show off her talent. Take a look at her site and you'll see even more of what she can make! As a side note, not only is Gretchen an incredible artist but she is also a dance teacher and a heck of an Irish-step dancer. Above all, she is a good-hearted, amazing girl :) I hope you all are as excited about it being Friday as I am! I'm definitely ready for the weekend. I have quite a bit going on but I hope to get some rest as well!
I have a lot to do today so I don't have much time to write on here but I wanted to show off the present I made for Husband last night! He asked me to paint him a letter "G" for our house so I thought I'd do it in our wedding colors. What do you think?? Happy Monday, Everyone! Last week was a weird week for me since I only spent one day at my desk. The rest of the week was spent in meetings or in classes. Hopefully this week will be more normal and I'll have more time to write. With the September 11th ten year anniversary, I'm sure everyone had an interesting weekend. It was wonderful to walk through the mall and have American flags handed to me and to turn on the tv and see all of the patriotism. I can't believe it's been 10 years since that day -- I remember it like it was yesterday and I'm sure everyone else can as well. I hope everyone remembers the pride that Americans showed in the days following the attacks and we continue to show that pride through the next 10 years. Maria and Jarrod after the ceremony Onto a happier note.... This weekend was my friend Maria's wedding!! I can't believe she is finally married! (When training for our half-marathon last year, we were both planning our weddings and hers seemed so far away). Friday night was the rehearsal dinner and Jarrod's family showed all of the out-of-towners how to party Texas style. We ate Tex-Mex and everyone wore cowboy boots. The wedding was Saturday and Maria looked stunning! The ceremony was very traditional with tons of music and then we went over to the Petroleum Club Houston for an amazing reception. She and Jarrod make a gorgeous couple and I'm so happy for them. Sadly, Maria had to move to North Carolina yesterday and there were more than a few tears shed leading up to the wedding and on Saturday night. I'm going to miss her like crazy :( Yesterday, I tried my hand at painting. Hermano bought me a paint set for my birthday last month and I thought I'd give it a go. I've only painted 4 paintings in my entire life (including the two I did yesterday) but I'm hoping to do more! I find it relaxing and it allows me to be a little creative :) I think this may be my new hobby! Since it's fall (well, the once-again triple-digit weather doesn't seem to agree), I thought I'd follow a fall motif. Here are the two paintings I did yesterday. What did you do this weekend? Do you have any hobbies that you've taken up recently? |
