So I have been severely lacking in my blog-updating lately and I'm going to try to do better! The last few weeks I have traveled all over the state of Texas (mostly for work) and I've had few opportunities to get on here. I've been to the Panhandle and South Texas, Central Texas and I'm headed to East Texas next week. All in a month's time! The trip to Central Texas was for my cousin's baby shower and Husband's and my anniversary. This week I'm thankful for the trip Hubby and I made and the few days we got to escape normal life! I'm thankful for new babies in the family! This weekend was Cinnamon's baby shower and we found out they are expecting a little girl! I'm so excited to welcome another little one! And, it's so much fun to buy clothes for baby girls :) This week, I'm very thankful for WINE. Our anniversary trip was to the wine country in Central Texas and we had such a wonderful time tasting tons of amazing blends! We spent two days traveling to different wineries and broadening our palette. Now, we have to figure out when we can use the goodies we brought back! Our trip was incredible. We stayed at this amazing Bed and Breakfast in Fredericksburg and we were spoiled rotten. Our room was quaint and perfect and the breakfast was delicious. It was exactly what we wanted and when we left, Husband promised to go back soon! I'm so glad I found the perfect spot for our trip! Check it out - Corner Cottage B&B. So this is King George - the Corner Cottage Conman. He tricked all of us into believing he was a starving, homeless kitty and we were shocked to find out that he specializes in conning lodgers into believing he needs leftovers. Though I felt a little embarrassed that I fell for his tricks, I am glad he added to the weekend. Had to make sure I got a pic with him before I left... Isn't he adorable!?

This weekend, I ran the Run10Feed10 Austin 10K with my sister Cate. I spent the weekend with her and her beautiful family in Austin and it was so wonderful to see them! On Saturday morning, we got up early to run our 10K and then went over to one of her favorite Mexican restaurants for a post-race brunch. My friend Ama met us there and it was great to see her, too! (Re: pics, Cate and I forgot to take pics at the actual race so here are our beautiful post-run faces, and Ama and I did take a pic, but because I'm a good friend, I'm going to keep that one under wraps because she was exhausted from attending ACL (Austin City Limits) and I don't know if she wants me to share the pic or not!). Anyway, after the race and brunch, we went back to Cate's house and spent the rest of the afternoon napping, playing with her gorgeous baby girl Claire, and catching up. Later, her oldest, Ellie, joined us and I read her a bedtime story (and she corrected me every time I missed a word.. haha. She's sooo smart!) Oh, I forgot to mention the amazing dinner that Cate's hubby Eric made us! DELISH. I think I'll head out there more often just so he can cook for me ;) After we got the kiddos to bed, Eric talked Cate and me into doing the P90X stretching video with him. Supposedly Cate got some pretty classic pics of Eric and me stretching but I have yet to see those ;) Sunday morning, Ellie woke me up with a book in hand and climbed into bed with me so I could read to her. It was so sweet and a great way to wake up! I was sad to head home yesterday because it was really a perfect weekend! I'm already looking forward to going back for another visit!! To top off the weekend, when I got home, I had received my new scarves that my friend Gretchen made me (now I need cold weather so I can wear them!!). When I opened my letter from her, I found a present. Gretchen sent me fall from NY!! Since we don't really get fall down here, I have really been bummed that this year is so beautiful in the Northeast. Since she didn't want me to feel left out, she sent me a little so I didn't miss it! How sweet is she?? Sorry I was MIA last week. I was on a business trip to New Mexico and Arizona. We were working at the Navajo Fair and I didn't get back until the weekend. While I was working, I took some great pictures that I wanted to share with you! Hope you enjoy! It's Monday and I don't know about you, but I'd much rather be anywhere but work today. For some reason, I just REALLY wasn't ready to start my work week. Instead, I thought I'd post some pictures of places that I would rather be today!
This week I am thankful for an understanding boss. My new boss is so sweet and understanding and I love working for her. We are still adjusting to working together and, because of her different managing style from my previous boss, we are still learning each others's expectations. She has been so understanding throughout this adjustment period and I'm lucky to have that. Yesterday I was soooooo grateful for nice people at the airport. I had a stressful traveling situation yesterday when I ended up at the wrong airport for my flight. I had made my reservations to leave from a specific airport and apparently, the travel site I used did not alert me when it made my flight from a different airport. Yes, I should have looked carefully at my ticket, but I honestly didn't expect that it would schedule me from an airport I didn't choose. So.... needless to say, when I showed up an hour before take-off and I'm told that my flight is leaving from the airport across town, I had a major anxiety attack. I was leaving for a business trip to a place that has very few flights in and out of it. I raced across town to get to the other airport and find that there is no parking! Apparently, half of the airport parking garage is under construction! I was watching the clock the entire time and praying that my flight would be delayed! When I finally made my way through the maze that was the parking lot to find someone leaving, I ran to the airport security line to find that there was a 30 minute wait to get through security. My flight was scheduled to take off in 10 minutes! I frantically cried out to the TSA guy to see if I could get through early and, of course, he didn't let me. Instead, tons of incredibly sweet people started asking those in front of them if I could cut in line because I was going to miss my flight. It's amazing how nice some people can be! Luckily, my flight took off 10 minutes late so when I made it through the line and SPRINTED through the airport, I made it onto the plane! I was sweating and panting as I took my seat but I kept thinking about how I wouldn't have made it if it weren't for those 20 or so amazing people who pulled strings to make sure I could make it! I received 5 free books this week (2 others aren't pictured but I got these 3 on the same day!). It is like Christmas time when you open your mailbox and see 3 packages of brand new books! I'm so excited to read these, and the other two I won from Goodreads! I've developed a true appreciation for reading books and critiquing them. Secret wish: I'd love to be a book critic in the future!! This allows me to pretend I am for the time being :) My good friend Andrea asked me to be part of her wedding when we spoke this week and I felt so blessed. She and I haven't seen each other since the day this picture was taken over two years ago! After she graduated med school, she moved across the country for her residency and has been soooo busy that I never get to see her anymore!! She's getting married next weekend and I can't wait to see her and share her special day with her! She will forever be my soul mate (right, Adge?), even if I don't see her every day like we did back in college! I'm thankful to be in her wedding as well as to have her in my life! Since I haven't really given a recap of our cruise that we took last month, I thought I'd share some pics from our trip to Jamaica. That was our first stop on our cruise and we got some pretty cool pictures. Unfortunately, I got sick the night before so I was out of commission for part of the day but after some sprite and rest, I was able to get off the boat and do a bit of exploring. We went to Margaritaville and then walked to shop of the local shops. It was a beautiful day out and extremely relaxing. Here are some of the pictures we took!
I'm back!! I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter and got to spend time with loved ones. We visited our parents and then docked for our cruise to the Caribbean. It was amazing and very needed. After 9 days away from the office, I'm not sure I'm ready to be back at work...
During the cruise, we visited Jamaica, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel and each place had its own special charm. We also met some great people on the cruise and made some amazing memories!! I also got a lot of rest and a bit of reading done :) - though, not as much as I would have liked. The good news is that I now have quite a bit of stuff to write about for the next week or so! Though I took over 700 pictures (yes, I got a little camera happy), I am going to wait to post some until I can talk about the different aspects of the cruise. Instead, I'm going to start this week off with a sweet family picture (minus our kitty). What was the last vacation you took? Have you taken a cruise before? What kind of trip do you like best - beach, mountain, city? There are so many things to be thankful for this week such as my anniversary with Husband and the extra year we got with my Uncle Steve before his passing. I've already talked about this week, though, so I'm going to try to keep to some different things for today's thankful list. I am so, so blessed. This week, I have been thanking God for all of the special blessings he has given me. I always seem to run into wonderful people and I'm given opportunities that I could only dream of. I'm thankful for all of the blessings -- big and small -- that I have in my life. God is truly taking care of me. I'm sooo excited/thankful for the vacation Husband and I are taking to celebrate our first year of marriage together. We made our reservations last night and I canNOT wait to get away and spend some carefree time with just us. I'm thankful that The Hunger Games are finally here!! I've been looking forward to seeing the movie since I read the books and Husband and I are going on a date to see it this weekend. I heard it's spectacular! Can't wait to share the story with Husband! I'm thankful that I got to spend some time with Salice this weekend. I took her to the Aeros game for a (belated) birthday present and we had such a good time! We have a hard time coordinating our schedules so we seldom get to see each other. I was actually quite surprised that the game worked out for us. Monday will be our first anniversary and I'm so excited, shocked, anxious that a whole year has passed with Husband. It's been a crazy year and I can't wait to celebrate all we have been through!
For my anniversary present, Husband is taking us on a Caribbean cruise!! As you can imagine, I'm constantly thinking about sun, clear water, good food, and of course cute cruise clothes! That means that my Pinterest time has been mostly spent perusing outfits I want to take with me.... I thought I'd share some cute summer clothes (you know, in the spirit of my upcoming trip!). It has been a busy week! I traveled for the Christmas holiday and then for work but I'm back today! How was everyone's Christmas? I hope it was wonderful! This week I have SOO many things to be thankful for. Instead of making it just about the week, I thought I'd put a couple things I'm thankful for that happened this year. Though I have had a wonderful year, here are just a couple! I hope you all take time to be thankful for all of your opportunities this year! We have another great year just around the corner!! As you know, I got married early this year. Before the wedding, my beautiful best friend threw me an awesome bachelorette party. It was Breakfast at Tiffany's themed so we all wore little black dresses and pearls and went out to dinner, to a bar where there are tons of games (I was a skeeter ball CHAMP!), and then to an improv show. Here we are in one of the few pictures we have taken together in the last 11 years! haha. At least it's a good one :) She is such a wonderful best friend and I'm lucky to have her in my life! Then... on March 19, I married the love of my life. I'm so thankful for him and the life we have started together. In some way, he has played a part in everything I am thankful for this year. I love you, sweetheart! After the wedding, we went to the beautiful country of New Zealand. It was an incredible honeymoon and I'm so grateful that Husband put together such an amazing trip for us. We were so lucky throughout the entire honeymoon and it was exactly what we wanted. If only we could go back for our one year... haha. In May, we got Max :) I know you've seen this picture before but the most recent picture I have with him (from Christmas day) is on another computer. And I really like this picture. He's such a goofball and such a big part of our family. Although he's not quite a year and in the peak of his puppy-stage, I still can't imagine not having him. We were blessed with an amazing dog. In June, I got a new job!! I'm so grateful for everyone who helped me get this job that I love and for the blessings I've had since I've come to this company. Each day, I think about how lucky I am to enjoy going to work and being a part of a company that I feel truly cares for its employees. I'm also thankful for the chance to play with a Siberian tiger kitten this weekend!! My mother-in-law gave me a last minute Christmas present when I was up there this weekend. Apparently there were baby tigers that you could play with, so she took me to meet Squiggy. He is 12 1/2 weeks old in this picture and so much fun! We played for about half an hour and he was sooo sweet. Apparently he found my lap very comfortable because he kept climbing in it and snuggling with me. Siberian tigers are my favorite animal in the whole world and I never thought I'd have an opportunity to spend time with one. I'm so lucky I got to!! |
