Christmas is a time to spend with your loved ones. It is a time to slow down and just BE. We don't have to fit everything into our schedules. We don't have to be perfect. We just have to be THERE. Be there for the ones who depend on us and love us. Be there for those who may not have anyone else there for them.
I think people get too caught up in the "holidays" and forget to enjoy them. There are so many parties and expectations this time of year and people want to attend them all. I've learned, though, that when we spread ourselves too thin, we are no good to anyone. When we give 5% to 20 people, we are never going to give 100% to one person. When we are constantly trying to be somewhere else or do something different, we aren't enjoying what we are doing in this moment.
I love the holiday season. I even started listening to Christmas music before Thanksgiving - in my defense, Thanksgiving was pretty late this year! I enjoy seeing the decorations and the Salvation Army Santas outside of stores. I never tire of Christmas music on the radio or holiday movies on TV. What I love most, though, is slowing down to enjoy time with my family and friends.
Don't forget to enjoy the holidays this year. Don't lose the opportunity by trying to make it to EVERY party or do everything expected of you. Make sure you take the time and make the effort to BE there this Christmas instead of spreading yourself too thin.
Speaking of, the little dude just woke up. Time to snuggle :)
