This week I'm thankful for the two free books I've won from goodreads. My friend told me to join and I've had a blast on this social network for readers! You can discuss books, rate books, see what your friends are reading, and even apply to win free books (signed copies or early releases)! My first signed book should come in the mail today and I'm excited to get started on it. Since I spend so much money on books every week (yes, I read at least one book a week usually!), it's nice to get some for free so I can save a bit of money! The book I'm getting this week is a crime mystery. Hope it's good! I'm so thankful for the relationship I'm forming with Caitlin. My Uncle Steve, who passed away in March, always called me his daughter - till he had a beautiful girl of his own. He still called me his daughter till the day he left this earth but I know I never stood a chance compared to Caitlin. We knew each other when we were young but never got to know each other very well. In honor of Steve, we decided to focus on getting to know each other and become close friends. The more I get to know her, the more special I realize she truly is. Caitlin is an amazing girl with a good heart. She will make a huge impact on this world and I can't wait to get to know her even better. Sometimes Husband's patience truly amazes me. Yesterday, I updated my software on my new iPhone and it wiped out EVERYTHING on my phone. I couldn't even turn it on! After a slightly immature fit, I calmed down and 3 hours later, my phone was running again. I was so grateful for the patience Husband showed during my mini-meltdown. He was so great and willing to go out of his way to help me get a new phone today if necessary. Thank you, Sweetheart! Christine is in the middle of our "triplet" group This is my friend Christine's last week at work :( :( :( She is moving to California for a few months because her husband was transferred out there and she's taking her gorgeous little boys with her. Even though I'm sad that she won't be here any more, I'm thankful for the fun times we have shared at work and the times we have spent outside of work as well! She is a blast to be with and I can't wait for her to move back!

She looks SOOO happy This weekend, we went to a wedding for Husband's cousin Lindsey. It was a small, family wedding and it was beautiful. Lindsey looked so incredibly happy during the ceremony and during the first dance, I don't think she realized that anyone else was even in the room. I'm very happy for her and I wish her many, many years of happiness. The decorations at the reception were so gorgeous and Lindsey put a huge amount of time and thought into them. Though I wanted to take a picture of EVERYTHING, I tried to limit myself to only a small sampling of her great creativity. Below are examples of how precious her decorations were and some of the things that truly scream "Lindsey." This week I'm thankful for the sweet notes Husband has been leaving me. Recently, he has been making an effort to surprise me with notes when I wake up, come home from work, or just because. It's such a nice surprise whenever I find one! Lucky me :) I'm also thankful for the amazing support I have from my work Big Bro, David. He completely looks out for me and has been so supportive of me! Yesterday, he sent me this pic he found of a "big brother teacher little sister". It's soooo cute!! My college roommate, Erin, just moved to Houston and is working a few blocks away from me. Instead of only seeing her every few months, I now get the opportunity to see her way more often. I'm so excited!! I've been trying to get her to work here for about 4 or 5 years. (Which tells you how old this pic is...) This was her first week at her new job and I get to have lunch with her today! YAY! In honor of Mother's Day this weekend, I am thankful of my mom. (Isn't she cute here?!). I'm thankful for all of her support and friendship over the years. Happy Monday, everyone! I hope you all had a fabulous weekend! My weekend was full of activities (and sadly, some that I couldn't make... like my dear friend's bridal shower - I'm so sorry Adge! And Ama and Cate!).
Because of our recent cruise expenses, we are trying to cut back on our travel to save some money so we had to stay in town this weekend. That worked out in our favor, though, because I was able to see a family friend whom I hadn't seen in 15 years. Friday, Husband took me to Olive Garden for our date night. Saturday, we got up early to go to my friend's son's T-ball game. It was a blast and I got to see her whole family, including her newborn, Kash. Then, we went to see my family friend and the boys had a golf day. Yesterday, we had breakfast with my family and spent the rest of the afternoon napping (I LOVE Sunday naps!) and doing stuff around the house. It was great to have a full weekend but include some relaxation. Those weekends are the best!! How was your weekend? Do anything exciting?? Can you believe it's almost MAY!? I'm so happy it's Friday! Usually when you get back from a trip, the first week of work seems to drag on and on. Not this week! It has flown by and I'm excited that we have a weekend at home to catch up on some things around the house! Since I'm happy today, I thought I'd show off some things that make me smile :) There are soooo many things I could put on this list but I don't want to overwhelm you. Instead, these are some pictures from the last couple weeks! Today's post is dedicated to my beautiful family. Over the holiday, we spent time with both my parents and my in-laws and got some great pictures. I'm so thankful to be blessed with some amazing people in my life and I wanted to show off both sides to you. (And of course, a couple of my beautiful puppy!).
I'm back!! I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter and got to spend time with loved ones. We visited our parents and then docked for our cruise to the Caribbean. It was amazing and very needed. After 9 days away from the office, I'm not sure I'm ready to be back at work...
During the cruise, we visited Jamaica, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel and each place had its own special charm. We also met some great people on the cruise and made some amazing memories!! I also got a lot of rest and a bit of reading done :) - though, not as much as I would have liked. The good news is that I now have quite a bit of stuff to write about for the next week or so! Though I took over 700 pictures (yes, I got a little camera happy), I am going to wait to post some until I can talk about the different aspects of the cruise. Instead, I'm going to start this week off with a sweet family picture (minus our kitty). What was the last vacation you took? Have you taken a cruise before? What kind of trip do you like best - beach, mountain, city? How was everyone's weekend? Mine was wonderful! We went to Husband's parents' house for the weekend and had a really great time. Friday I was sick so we took it easy and I went to bed early. It paid off because I was feeling much better the rest of the weekend!
Saturday morning, I woke up to a "princess breakfast" for Husband's nieces, Madalyn and Avery. They were going to a Princess in the Park day and to start out the morning right, my mother-in-law made them a fancy breakfast and we had introductions and interviews with each of the girls. They looked adorable and it was so much fun watching them get into character. Later that day, we went to Madalyn's softball game and then I went to the see, yet another princess, in Mirror-Mirror. I was impressed with Julia Roberts's role as an evil character. Usually she is a sweet, girl-next-door personality but the evil queen fit her quite well. We ended the day watching the basketball games and I was so excited to see that my bracket is holding up in this tournament! I have Kansas and Kentucky in the finals and hopefully Kansas will win tonight so I can place in our competition! Yesterday, we had breakfast outside before church and then enjoyed a delicious lunch with Husband's grandparents before heading home and turning in early. All in all, it was a wonderful weekend :) What did you do? This week was Sarah's birthday (well yesterday was) and I'm thankful to have such a wonderful friend! She has been there for me since the day I met her in law school and I've been blessed to have such a good-hearted person in my life. I'm glad she had a good birthday and I wish I could have shared it with her! I'm so grateful that Hermano has been feeling well enough to hang out with friends lately! His medicine seems to be kicking in a little bit and, although he still has a long way to go, he has found more energy and he's been able to go out to see people. I really hope he continues on this upward trend and heals up soon! (p.s. Sorry, Hermano, for facebook stalking to find this pic of you and random people I don't know!). I'm sooo thankful for my hairdresser, Tessa. My hair is at that point that I can' t do anything with it and I'm glad I'll get it cut this weekend. Tessa is such a good person and has saved my hair so many times! Not only does she do my hair, but she's also a friend. I'm just grateful for her! I'm also thankful for this little man. He is absolutely adorable and great to talk to on the phone! I talked to him last night before his t-ball game and he promised he would win for me (which he did!). He is such a cutie and can always bring a smile to your face :) (I'm thankful for his mama, too!) I hope everyone had a great weekend! My weekend was super full and I loved every minute of it! What did you guys do? Who saw The Hunger Games??
Friday night, I saw The Hunger Games with Husband. I was so excited that I had energy ALL DAY LONG even though I got to work at 6:30am for a meeting. The movie was really good! (Though, it cannot even compare to the books!). To add to The Hunger Games excitement, my friend Erin brought me an A&M Hunger Games t-shirt that I sported yesterday! Saturday, Husband and I did a 5K to raise money for breast cancer. We ran in honor of Carrie in the first annual Walk Like a Diva 5k in Kingwood. My friend Amanda organized the 5K and it was such a success that they are going to do another one next year! Husband and I were in the small group that ran the walk and we came in 3rd and 4th. Then, we went to my parents' for a crawfish boil and some pool time!! Erin joined us for the day and it was sooo good to see her! We are trying to get her to move to Houston so we can see her more often! To finish off the weekend, we did house work, got our new fridge going (yay!!), and I got a wonderful 1 1/2 hour massage :) Hope everyone else had a weekend as exciting as mine!! |
