This week I am so thankful for my little brother. We celebrated his 22nd birthday on Tuesday night and I think he really enjoyed himself. In honor of him officially being old (hahahaha), I thought I'd pull out an old picture of us from about 17 years ago. Doesn't he look ADORABLE??? What a little blondie!! I'm thankful to have such a wonderful, loving brother and to have such a good relationship with him. Last night, I stayed up wayyyyy too late talking to Caitlin but it was totally worth it! I'm thankful that I get to talk to her so regularly and that I may actually get to see her next month!!! (If you're reading this, Caitlin, you should probably look at your schedule now and make sure you can come!). It's so amazing that we have gotten a chance to really build our relationship and become close! :) Sooo on a totally superficial level, I'm so pumped that it's finally turning into boot season! I can't wait to pull out the boots (and eventually the scarves/hats/other fun fall accessories) and enjoy fall! I've been looking all over for some fun fall boots. How cute are these??? Not sure what I'd wear with them but they are adorable! And I love the grey! Although the game tonight was postponed, and we won't be starting the season for another week, I'm still thankful that Aggie football is starting up! I love the college football season and it's going to be an exciting journey as we start up in our new conference! I really hope that this move is good for us and I'm proud to cheer on my Aggies!!

Happy birthday to the bestest little brother in the whole wide world!! Hermano turns 22 today and I cannot believe how time has flown! I still feel like we are both little kids running around and making up fun games while we traveled with our parents. Now we both have our own houses and our own grown up lives. How crazy! I hope Hermano has the best birthday ever :) Love you, kiddo!! Happy Friday, Dear Readers!!
I have been looking forward to Friday allll week! This weekend I'm celebrating my birthday so I am excited to see some of my good friends and, you know, be the center of attention ;) This year, I decided that I wanted to just relax for my birthday. That means, most of my activities include doing a whole lotta nothin with my friends :) Can.Not.Wait. The actual bday is on Monday so if you really want to get me something, you have a couple days....I did ask for a new set of tires for my bike ;) What do you have planned for this weekend? Anything exciting? First off, I'd like to congratulate Gabby Douglas on an amazing performance in the gymnastics all-around last night. She did amazing and the end to her floor routine was just incredible! Who can't fall in love with that smile of hers?? Congrats on bringing home another US gold and for being such a great model for us! You are truly a joy to watch, Miss Gabby Douglas!!! And now for some good Olympic-themed laughs for your Friday!! This week I'm thankful for an understanding husband. It's been a stressful couple of weeks and we have had to work extra hard to make sure things run smoothly. Husband has been incredibly sweet and helpful whether it's with housework, finances, emotional support to even helping with work (we work together and he's been helping me like crazy!). I'm so blessed to have him! I'm thankful to be American. I LOVE the Olympics for so many reasons but one thing I have always appreciated is that it's a time for patriotism. It seems like sometimes people need a little motivation to sit back and look at how lucky they are to be from their country and have people representing them. The US has been extremely lucky in their Olympic endeavors over the years and I'm proud to wear my red, white, and blue and support the 528 athletes who are in London competing right now. When I left for work this morning it was still dark out. This time of year is such a great time to ride the bus into downtown during the early hours of the day because I get to catch the sun rising over downtown Houston. The skyline looks so pretty during dusk and when I can see it on my commute to work, I am reminded that fall is just around the corner! Today was the first day that I noticed the days getting just a little bit shorter. Though most people don't like shorter days, I love them because they let me know that the holidays are coming!! Hermano came over for a little bit this week (I may have had to bribe him with food...) and I really enjoyed spending a little bit of time with him! It's so crazy how time flies. Now that he lives about 40 minutes away, I almost NEVER see him! I can't believe we are both grown up and leading different lives. At least I have good pics, like the one I posted here, to help me remember the good ol' days! haha. Love you, Hermano! In honor of my birthday month, I thought I'd choose a birthday-inspired recipe for today's recipe :) How cool is this birthday cake popcorn?! I'm definitely going to try this!! Birthday Cake Popcorn INGREDIENTS: Popped popcorn (have you tried this?) Half package of candy coating White cake mix Birthday sprinkles DIRECTIONS: 1. Melt candy coating in the microwave or stove top. 2. Add DRY cake mix to the melted candy. I used 2 heaping tablespoons. 3. Pour candy coating over popcorn and mix together. 4. Add your birthday sprinkles and allow to cool. 5. Enjoy! I hope others had the opportunity to enjoy the Olympic opening ceremony Friday night. I was very impressed with the entire thing. It included humor, history, hope, and celebration and I think the ceremonious torch lighting was incredibly touching. Well done, Brits, well done! I really enjoyed seeing Team USA walk out during the opening ceremony in their preppy Ralph Lauren outfits. I think everyone looked so sharp and made a great impression! The men looked rather dapper and the women looked so cute! I think the outfits were flattering for everyone and the berets were amazing (I mean, seeing Kobe Bryant and LeBron James in a beret - I think that's a once-in-a-lifetime experience!) It really looked as though the athletes stepped right out of a magazine! What do you think of the outfits Team USA sported (pun, intended) on Friday night?? Today I would like to wish a happy birthday to one of my favorite people! My old college roommate, bridesmaid, good friend Erin turns an age that still qualifies as mid-twenties today and I'm so excited it's finally her bday :) :) In honor of that, I stole pics off her facebook page (including a cutie from when she was little!) to share with you!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY ERIN! LOVE YOU! And, in honor of the 2012 Olympics beginning today, I would like to post this awesome pic I found. Go USA!!!!!! I am so pumpmed!!! I love the summer olympics!!!
